Check ICE Transfers

To find someone released from ICE Online Detainee Locator System custody after a Mineral County event, first confirm that the local release was actually a transfer to immigration authority. ICE ODLS is a current or near-current immigration custody locator. It is not a Mineral County jail roster, a permanent release archive, or a substitute for the sheriff's release record.

ICE Mineral County Transfers

No official evidence was found that Mineral County operates an ICE detention facility. ICE matters for Mineral County release research only when a local release record, court event, detainer, or agency contact says the person was released to ICE or moved into immigration custody. In that situation, the county release is a release from local criminal custody, not proof that the person was released into the community.

ICE ODLS locates people currently in ICE custody or in CBP custody more than 48 hours. USA.gov explains that the search can be run by A-number and country of birth or by name, country of birth, and date of birth. Those identifiers make ODLS different from a county jail release record, which is usually tied to local booking and case information.

Confirm ICE Release Route

The ICE path should start with the Mineral County record that mentions ICE. A local release record can show whether a person left sheriff custody because of an immigration transfer. Without that link, ODLS is not the first place to search every released Mineral County inmate. Use it when the record points to ICE, then read any result as immigration custody status rather than county release status.

  1. Ask the Mineral County sheriff or holding jail whether the release record shows an ICE hold or transfer.
  2. Open ICE ODLS when the local record points to immigration custody.
  3. Search by A-number and country of birth if known.
  4. If no A-number is known, search by name, country of birth, and date of birth.
  5. Use court and sheriff records to understand the local criminal case separately from immigration custody.

For state prison or parole, use CDOC rather than ICE. For federal prison, use BOP. For a local booking release, use the sheriff and the full Mineral County released inmates search path.

Mineral County ICE Detainers

An ICE detainer or hold can confuse release language. A person may be "released" from local criminal custody while still not free to leave because another authority takes custody. The Mineral County release record should be read for the destination or authority listed at release. If the destination is ICE, ODLS may help identify current immigration detention, but the local sheriff's record remains the source for the county release event.

ICE ODLS is also time-sensitive. The research describes it as current-detention and short-window release oriented. It should not be described as a permanent archive of all immigration custody outcomes. If the ODLS result is absent or stale, use the court docket, sheriff release record, counsel, family contact, or federal resources appropriate to the case.

ICE Records and Limits

Mineral County release records and ICE records answer different questions. A sheriff record can show that local custody ended and may list release to ICE. ODLS can show whether a person is currently in ICE custody or in CBP custody more than 48 hours. Immigration case records, notices, and federal immigration court materials are not Mineral County jail records.

  • Use Mineral County sheriff records for the local release event.
  • Use ICE ODLS for current immigration custody checks.
  • Use USA.gov's identifier guidance to choose the right search method.
  • Use BOP or federal court only for federal criminal custody, not ICE civil custody.

Note: A transfer to ICE is a change of custody authority, not a county jail release into the community.

No Mineral ICE Facility

The facility map includes ICE ODLS because immigration custody can appear as a destination after a local release, not because Mineral County has a confirmed ICE detention center. That distinction protects the page from overclaiming. Use the ICE page only when the Mineral County release record or another source points to immigration custody. Otherwise, start with the sheriff, the court docket, VINE, and CDOC as appropriate.

For a person who has both criminal and immigration issues, more than one record system may be true at the same time. A local case may have a bond or dismissal event, while ICE custody continues. A state or federal case may also proceed separately. Read each system for its own authority and date.
